Ms. King’s career in marketing, advertising and public relations has spanned more than three decades, commencing at the prestigious national rep firm Avery Knodel in Chicago as media buyer, then continuing as a National and Regional Sales Manager for Lansing’s NBC and CBS affiliates. She took this experience and fierce commitment to the success of her clients’ business objectives with her when she founded King Media in 1999. King Media has grown to provide full-service advertising, marketing, public relations and digital media services to clients across the country through its three offices in East Lansing, Grand Rapids and St. Joseph, Michigan.
As president and founder, Ms. King is the lead researcher and strategist for each and every client. During her work with Tabor Hill, Ms. King was able to evolve the brand, elevating it to match the premium experience winery visitors enjoyed on site. She then positioned the brand to appeal to and reach the next generations of wine enthusiasts, exponentially increasing both winery traffic and wine sales in markets around Michigan, as well as nationally.
As King Media’s lead creative director, Ms. King guides her team as they bring brands to life, ensuring the design and copy are not just visually and verbally appealing, but are compelling, engaging and relevant for each and every target audience. Her proven ability to conduct foundational research, develop targeted strategy, inspire compelling creative and assure flawless execution have moved the needle for King Media’s clients in big ways. It’s also earned the King Media team 40 national and international awards since 2015. Coleen King was recently named the 2020 Outstanding Alumni of the Year by the MSU College of Communication Arts and Sciences, an award which recognizes alumni who have obtained the highest level of professional or academic accomplishment and demonstrated service to the College of Communication Arts & Sciences and the community.
